The Sneakiest New Shopping Scam (Text Messages)

By the editors of Shop Smart Magazine

How it works
-
"Smishing" is the latest twist on that scam (Phishing) — instead of getting an e-mail, you get a text message. (The word is a combination of "SMS," for short message service, aka text messaging, and "phishing.") You're told to call a toll-free number, which is answered by a bogus interactive voice-response system that tries to fool you into providing your account number and password.

Is Trading Coupons, Ethical and Legal

Courtesy of The Coupon Project

WOW! I just came across an EXCELLENT article written by "Coupon Queen" Jill Cataldo entitled "
Is trading coupons ever against the law?"

Ever notice how most coupons read "void if copied, transferred, sold, or exchanged?" Jill does a wonderful job of explaining exactly what that means – and what it doesn't. It certainly cleared things up for me! Incidentally, it looks like next week she'll be addressing the question if coupons can be sold.

"...Studies have found that over half of women receiving public assistance are victims of domestic violence. The report examines the effectiveness of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program in assisting victims of family violence. According to the report, TANF is riddled with shortsighted procedures policies that prevent many of these victims from accessing aid."

"Not only are you now on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars in costs over the next two decades, you also have a new obligation to teach your children about money so that they grow into adults who are at home in the financial world and who have a healthy relationship with money.
